Mary is the daughter of the Rev. John Washington Ligon (1865-1934) and his wife, Rachel Barbara Scherffius (1874-1943). Together they were the parents of at least three children, John Ligon Cason, Mary Barbara Cason, and William Stevens (Billy) Cason. Levi Cason and Mary Ligon were married 19 NOV 1919 in Morganfield, Union County, Kentucky.
