On yesterday's blog I talked about four Nix brothers who died in the civil war. The headstone today is for one of those four brothers, Newton Nix, who died in Nov. 1862 (according to his military papers). As you can see his headstone says differently. He rests in the shadow of a very large monument with a pinacle on top. Inscribed on it are the names of thousands of Confederate soldiers who rest in this place. There are also many graves with those little white military headstones surrounding the monument.
