Monday Musings - Can We Say Mountains?

This past weekend I was fortunate to be the guest of the Genealogical Society of South Whidbey Island, Washington State.  We arrived in Everett, Washington on Thursday nite, Friday morning we packed it up and headed over to the ferry to begin our weekend on beautiful Whidbey Island.

Being a native Floridian, I'm always in awe of mountains.  Being here on Whidbey Island they give new meaning to the word MOUNTAIN!  I was so in awe of the mountains as we made the trek from Salt Lake City up to Washington State.  So majestic So awesome!  I must admit I was flabbergasted to see snow on the ground still. 

Our hosts for the weekend were so gracious and the food... Bob & Georgene were both awesome cooks, yummy bean & ham soup, blueberry scones, waffles, many pots of coffee for the guys and pots of herbal teas for the girls.  Comfy beds & a beautiful home with an awesome view.  Really?  We're here to work?  Felt almost like a vacation. 

Saturday all day was the genealogy society's all day seminar.  Four talks were scheduled, lots of great raffle prizes were up for grabs, lunch was in process by the chef.  We kicked off at 9 am, the day progressed with lots of learning & laughs, lunch was served half way thru.  The talks continued until about 4 pm.  Lots of hugs, lots of compliments, people excited to get home and get busy putting the things they learned into practice.  The planning committee took us out for Chinese and oh what a meal that was.  The chinese was excellant, the company of the committee outstanding!

Returning back to our hostess home we had a spot of tea and chilled, enjoying the remainder of the evening.  The view of the mountains from our room was beautiful!

I can't begin to say enough good things about this trip - the entire experience was just fabulous.

So to Laura, Georgene, Bob, Doreen, Maureen and everyone else involved in the planning and and every other step of putting this awesome seminar together - hats off to you - It was totally AWESOME!
