Death of Eld. Isaac Early (1907)

Death of Eld. Isaac Early

Isaac Early was born in Rockingham County, Virginia, March 7, 1838. In the fall of 1839 he moved with his parents to Lima, Allen County, Ohio, where his father was one of the earliest pioneers. On a farm he lived with his parents until he was twenty one years of age.

In 1861 he was united in marriage with Mary E. Irvin, of Allen County, Ohio. They began housekeeping on a farm in Putnam County, where they lived for five years. From there they moved to St. Joseph County, Indiana, four miles northeast of Liberty. They resided here until the Lord called him home.

Eight children were born to them, five girls and three boys, all of whom are living.

In 1864 the deceased united with the Brethren Church, and in 1867 he was elected tot he ministry. He labored in this capacity for thirty years, when feeble health would not admit of more labor in that direction. His faithfulness to his church and devotion to his God, however remained unabated. He died Aug. 14, 1907, aged 69 years, 5 months and 7 days. Besides his devoted wife, three brothers and eight children survive.

Bro. Early wielded a noble influence in the church and community. He was a man of truth, honesty and Christian integrity. His life harmonized with his preaching, which rendered his life a success among those who knew him. He possessed tact as a counselor in the church and the home and was admired by the young and old for his amiable qualitities. All realize thata christian soldier has fallen, but he fell clad in his armor and loyal to his trust, and has gone to reap his eternal reward. Funeral services by writer.
